Lucky Bird-- Winner & Highlights!

There were a lot of great entries in the latest Name that Bird contest. Lots of hummingbirds, but also some other interesting ones. The most original entry was for the Peeps. Although I do not endorse these, as they are not vegan (they contain gelatin, which is derived from animal collagen), they did technically qualify as a "green bird" :)

The winner of the Lucky Green Bird Contest was Heather, of 3 am Art, whose favorite green bird is the Green Budgie. I was so happy that her name was picked! Although I don't know her in person, she is a hoot on email/forums and VERY supportive of all her veggie teammates. Congratulations, Heather! Her name was picked randomly from a bag that I had just purchased from Vegancraftastic. It's the cutest little squirrel bag you've ever seen, and really well-made. I bought it for a friend, but it arrived just in time to use as a "hat" for picking the winner of this contest. (My friend LOVED it, btw.) Lucky Green Bird Contest

With St. Patrick's Day quickly approaching, this month's challenge comes a little earlier, and will be a little shorter than usual...

To win this collection of fabulous green prizes, all you have to do is tell me what your favorite GREEN BIRD is and why you like the bird. A link to an online photo of the bird must also be included with your entry. The winner will be selected randomly out of all the entries.

Green Energy is Here!

Tom's band, The Irish Experience has just released their second album, Green Energy. It is a lively collection of traditional Irish and Appalachian folk music, featuring lightening electric fiddle by Joe Bowbeer; rocking guitar by Tom May, and the energetic thumping of the upright bass by Tom Hotchkin. This release also features some unique and fun instruments (tabla, cajón, djembe, dunun, bongos, congas, harmonica, synthesizer), plus a special Clogging appearance by yours truly! This summer I had my very first studio experience (at Egg Studio!) and recorded my fancy footwork of Appalachian Clogging, taught to me by the lovely and talented folks in my group, the Eclectic Cloggers.
